Many reviewers of this 'Compatible Fit' replacement have been noting that it is smaller than the original Amway part. Some have expressed anger at being misled by Amazon, or feel cheated since the filter is in fact smaller than Amway's official replacement. However, they are missing the point: this filter is about 75% of the capacity of the original, but it also costs less than half as much as the original direct from Amway! Setting aside weather or not the unit filters as well as an Amway original, determining if the unit is a good value or not is purely a question of math.
To determine the value of each unit, we'd need to look at the value of the unit by comparing its cost with it's lifespan.
Unit Cost x Lifespan = Value
Amway's OEM Part:
$125.00 for 1 lifespan = $125.00 per lifespan
Compatible Fit Replacement
$60.00 for .75 lifespan = $80.00 per lifespan
Another way to look at this, would be the number of this Copatible Fit Replacement filters which could be purchased for the same price as the original from Amway:
$60.00 \ $125.00 = 2.08
So even if they only have 75% of the lifespan, you do a little better than 2-for-1 on price. Effectively that means that you get an extra half of a lifespan from the unit on Amazon.
Arguments about if the filter works as well as the original could only be tested through a scientific process that would be difficult to conduct at home. I can tell you that the water coming out of the this filter tastes just as good to me as what came from the Amway unit it replaced, but that's just my anecdotal experience. For me that's good enough. If you're worried that this filter won't do a good job of filtering water in general, you should probably pay more and get an OEM part from Amway. If, on the other hand, you believe a water filter is pretty much a water filter, rest assured that this is a good value, at least when compared with Amway's offering.
Hope that clears the air a little bit.

Common sense will tell you
The beep you get is to "remind" you to replace the filter - not a true test of the filter efficiency.
It is the Max Time length specified before changing, not gallons filtered.
Replace the battery and you'll get another year of service, may or may not be efficient.
1250 or 1000 gallons is the test and an estimate usage in a year.
No Filtration Specs to compare gives me Warning.
May give you good tasting water but the reason I bought this filter is to FILTER OUT THE BAD STUFF!
doe's it do that ?
I guess my only option is to order one to read the specs & compare the ANSI/NSF Standards.

There are a lot of reviews that question the integrity of this filter. Many reviews mention how small it is compared to the original filter, and some even wonder how it can be sold as "compatible."
First of all, it is smaller than the original, and based on the reviews I wasn't expecting it to last a year. In truth, the filter just stopped working, and it has been 1 year and 4 months since we installed it. This company is now offering a full sized filter, but I ordered another one of these smaller ones. I don't see the point in getting a bigger filter that has the same life.
Generally the term "compatible" is used to indicate that what you are buying is not a direct OEM replacement, but it will fit and work. This filter, while smaller, fits and works in the Amway housing. You won't be disappointed with this filter, or its big brother if you are inclined.

Our filter lasts almost exactly 1 year before it starts to beep and needs replacing. And every year we order this filter from this Amazon vendor.
We've never had a problem with it and it does exactly what it claims to do. The price also seems to go down every year also, which is a bonus.

Should have read the other reviews. I guess it is filtering, but I plan to replace it in about 6 months. Besides being smaller, there was no carbon looking water that usually comes out in the first couple of minutes. No carbon means not the same filtering to me. The water doesn't have the nasty taste that is present without a filter. That's why I guess it's filtering. I sure don't have any confidence in this one. I won't buy another one.
