Brita Refrigerator Replacement Filters GE (Tools & Hardware)
I bought 3 of these filters for GE pss26mgpa bb refrigerator about 2 years ago and have had none of the problems mentioned. Are problems specific to certain GE fridges? Many of the complaints seem to be recent and I wonder if Brita sent out a batch of bad filters. Has anyone tried the WaterSentinel(tm) WSG-1 Replacement Filter(http://www.amazon.com/Water-Sentinel-Replacement-Kenmore-Hotpoint/dp/B001QAACOM/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1) for GE Profile Arctica pss26mgpa bb and other refrigerators? They're (...) less, but short of sending water samples to a lab, how do we know what they filter?

"GE, removed rubber gasket" 2010-04-06
By E. Hanson
I have a GE profile that originally used a Culligan filter.I already had the adapter (it came with an earlier GE filter replacement)I followed the Brita directions and installed the filter. Water would not dispense. I had noticed a rubber gasket on the Brita that was not on the GE filter. I removed the gasket and reinstalled. It worked perfectly. No leaking (as in other review) good water flow and taste. Unless it explodes in the next couple of months I'll be buying more.

"Not a True Replacement - Pulled from Market.." 2010-04-02
By Nick D. (Fort Collins, Colorado United States)
Am having the same problems that others are having:

~ Exceptionally low flow
~ Noisy
~ Has altered/damaged seal.

There are some assumptions in other reviews that those of us that are having problems with this filter are complete idiots. This filter is *not* compatible with our GE Profile fridge! I *know* when a product is not working as it should. The GE website says a glass should fill in 7 seconds - this filter takes over 40.

When I spoke with Brita today they told me that this product has been discontinued and they will send me a refund check. Brita needs to perform more field testing before putting such products on the market.

"Brita filter broke after 1 week, leaked water on floor! Not compatible!" 2010-03-17
By beth
As an informed consumer, I took my chances and ordered this Brita part, rather than a GE part. It worked for 1 week and then the flow became very slow. The next day, no flow at all. When trying to get water out of the dispenser, I heard a trickling and noticed that the water started to leak from behind my refrigerator. Great! Trust me, spend the extra money on the GE part. It will save you a lot of time and money in the end. Now, I'm dealing with a repair cost for my refrigerator and wood floor. Amazon customer service was great, but should consider removing the brita line of filters, at least for this particular GE model.

"Lower flow rate, and taller than GE filter" 2010-03-11
By T. Parks
Filter is about 1/2" taller than the GE equivalent. This meant there was not enough room to keep my top shelf at the highest level. The flow rate is noticeably slower. I will not buy this filter again.
